An E-Bay Trader's Assistant Success Story
By Jamey Scally of Monkley-Designs-Jewelry
E-bay can be a mystery and a challenge for many of us. I know I am always amazed at the number of people who rack up hundreds to thousands of sales a month (I personally have had logged over a thousand sales in about four years so not too shabby!). I am now officially a "Trader Assistant", and that's what I wanted to share with you. For some background: an E-Bay Trading Assistant sell your items on eBay for you, from listing the item and answering customer service inquiries, to collecting payment and shipping the item to the winning buyer. There are minimum requirements to earn this privilege and they include: #1 Have an eBay account in good standing at all times. #2 Have sold at least ten (10) items on eBay in the previous three (3) months and maintain 10 sales per 3-month period. #3 Maintain a minimum feedback score of 100, with at least 98% positive, at all times. Since becoming a Traders Assistant I have had several clients, all of which gave a minor profit, all of which I found fun challenging and often educating. Every new item brings new research and an expanded knowledge of the auction marketplace. I have just finished my most amazing week. A client brought to me a box of about 10 old or antique dolls and doll clothing. Most broken, all of them filthy dirty. He explained they had been given to him by an elderly lady in his building who was moving in to a rest home. I was busy at the time and we agreed that I would deal with them in a month or so. Well 2 months went by, and I finally looked closely at the dolls. Despite their haggled conditioned I sense a level of quality. I photographed the collection, created my ads and got them all posted. And the fun began! Bidding was going crazy! Turns out these dolls where all at least 100 years old and very collectible and sought after! One doll, which had a starting price of $29.99 closed at the amazing price of $3,550.00! The total collection ended bringing in over $5,000.00! This from a box of dirty dolls that almost where thrown away. So, a couple of lessons here: #1 yes, you can make money on E-Bay #2 careful what you throw away! Have fun auctioning!
